“Smoking is Injurious to health” is written on each packet by knowing the fact even literate people avoid reading it and continues to smoke. Smoking leads to as many as possible diseases. There are many complications and side effects of cigarette smoking.
• The smokers may suffer from “Smokers Cough”; where due to continuous exposure of cilia to the fumes causes this problem. The cilia gets inactivated so mucosa lining continuously secrets mucus to avoid the foreign particles entry into the respiratory system. Hence, continuous formation of sputum takes place which is actually a defense mechanism.
• The bones may get thinned and weakened up due to smoking. The women are more prone to osteoporosis because smoking decreases the calcium level.
• The other side effect of smoking cigarette is infertility problem.The fumes contains carbon monoxide and nicotine which may cause fetal oxygen deprivation, placental abnormalities, and still birth.
• By smoking there are side effects on skin. The wrinkle formation, dark circles surrounding the eyes, blackening of the lips, ageing etc is the effects of cigarette smoking. The Vitamin C which is very much essential for the preservation of collagen deprives which leads to all of the above problems of skin.
• Headache and dizziness will go hand in hand for the smokers as the release of dopamine is in increased amount. The dopamine receptors get activated which results in headache and dizziness.
• The smokers cannot enjoy the food as the non smokers can because of the repeated smoking the taste buds get inactivated. Even they smell whole day very bad that they cannot realize.
• Dry Mouth which is also called as xerostomia. Due to smoking the salivary gland are affected where the saliva production decreases and person demands for more sips of water.
• Breathlessness increases due to elevated consumption of fumes containing carbon monoxide. Usually the oxygen binds to hemoglobin but in smokers carbon monoxide bind to hemoglobin which supplies insufficient amount of oxygen to the cells. As the cells are lacking oxygen they cannot go for physical activities and become more and more lethargic.
• The effect of smoking cigarette smoking can also be seen on the fingers. The finger by which they hold cigarette gets yellow and pale. If you smoke roll ups this problem will be even worse. No amount of scrubbing will get rid of it; the only solution is to stop using the same finger.
If the person does not stop smoking in these initial stages then he has to fight against the most dangerous diseases.
