The most common that is lung disease are caused by smoking.
1. COPD that is Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease the name itself suggest that it is a long term lung disease. Majorly 80 to 90 percent of people lung diseases are caused by cigarette smoking. Not only smokers are prone to COPD but even the passive smokers are having chances of getting COPD. Due to the hazardous compounds present in the smoke it affects the airways. The walls of airways become thick and swollen.
2. Emphysema is a part of COPD where the damage of air sac occurs because of which the absorption of oxygen decreases.
3. Chronic Bronchitis it is a part of COPD. Here the infection occurs in bronchi which reduces the diameter of bronchi and hence leads difficulty in breathing. If proper treatment is not given or if an individual is not quitting smoking then he may suffer from Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Bronchitis (AECB).
4. Lung Cancer is another common lung disease caused by smoking. Cancer is a disease where cancerous cells grow out of control, taking over normal cells and organs in the body. Smokers have more chances of getting lung cancer as the smoke contains more of carcinogenic compounds which enhance the growth of cancerous cell.
5. As we know that Asthmatic patient already fight against the breathing problem and in such condition s if an individual smokes than it is very dangerous to their health. If an individual continuous to smoke then he may suffer from bronchitis and that will add one more complication to asthmatic patient.
