The most common that is lung disease are caused by smoking.
1. COPD that is Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease the name itself suggest that it is a long term lung disease. Majorly 80 to 90 percent of people lung diseases are caused by cigarette smoking. Not only smokers are prone to COPD but even the passive smokers are having chances of getting COPD. Due to the hazardous compounds present in the smoke it affects the airways. The walls of airways become thick and swollen.
2. Emphysema is a part of COPD where the damage of air sac occurs because of which the absorption of oxygen decreases.
3. Chronic Bronchitis it is a part of COPD. Here the infection occurs in bronchi which reduces the diameter of bronchi and hence leads difficulty in breathing. If proper treatment is not given or if an individual is not quitting smoking then he may suffer from Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Bronchitis (AECB).
4. Lung Cancer is another common lung disease caused by smoking. Cancer is a disease where cancerous cells grow out of control, taking over normal cells and organs in the body. Smokers have more chances of getting lung cancer as the smoke contains more of carcinogenic compounds which enhance the growth of cancerous cell.
5. As we know that Asthmatic patient already fight against the breathing problem and in such condition s if an individual smokes than it is very dangerous to their health. Smoking affects the body but knowingly or unknowingly it is also fading the financial condition. Tobacco companies and government are the only ones that do well to the sale of tobacco. Government and company are receiving good wealth in the form of taxes. Smokers are naive of the amount they spend on lighting every cigarette.
If a smoker is lighting 20 cigarettes per day means per year he must smoking nearly 7,000 cigarettes. Let’s take he is choosing the cheapest brand available than also he is investing more than $2,000 yearly. Therefore, there is not only a risk for various illnesses, but also a toll on the pockets of smokers. So this habit of smoking eats up the person financially.
The effect of smoking is not just the financial toll but it also consumes time. The smokers are more prone to all the disease as his immune system becomes weak. Ultimately he has to go for sick leaves in the company and there will be loss of productivity.
The smokers are more prone to all the major diseases such as heart attack, renal impairment, cataract, atherosclerosis, cancer etc. the money required for the treatment of all this diseases are very high and eventually it brings down the financial condition of the person.
Rather than wasting money in the treatment on can utilize this money in some good things may be by bringing some good books. Per week a person can save money near about $12. The financial condition will also be maintained and there will not be any shortage of money every house will be happy.
A smoker thinks that one cigarette cost so less but if we count it weekly, monthly and then yearly one can see how much saving a person can do if he once quit the smoking.

“Smoking is Injurious to health” is written on each packet by knowing the fact even literate people avoid reading it and continues to smoke. Smoking leads to as many as possible diseases. There are many complications and side effects of cigarette smoking.
• The smokers may suffer from “Smokers Cough”; where due to continuous exposure of cilia to the fumes causes this problem. The cilia gets inactivated so mucosa lining continuously secrets mucus to avoid the foreign particles entry into the respiratory system. Hence, continuous formation of sputum takes place which is actually a defense mechanism.
• The bones may get thinned and weakened up due to smoking. The women are more prone to osteoporosis because smoking decreases the calcium level.
• The other side effect of smoking cigarette is infertility problem. The fumes contains carbon monoxide and nicotine which may cause fetal oxygen deprivation, placental abnormalities, and still birth.
• By smoking there are side effects on skin. The wrinkle formation, dark circles surrounding the eyes, blackening of the lips, ageing etc is the effects of cigarette smoking. The Vitamin C which is very much essential for the preservation of collagen deprives which leads to all of the above problems of skin.
• Headache and dizziness will go hand in hand for the smokers as the release of dopamine is in increased amount. The dopamine receptors get activated which results in headache and dizziness.
• The smokers cannot enjoy the food as the non smokers can because of the repeated smoking the taste buds get inactivated. Even they smell whole day very bad that they cannot realize.
• Dry Mouth which is also called as xerostomia. Due to smoking the salivary gland are affected where the saliva production decreases and person demands for more sips of water.
• Breathlessness increases due to elevated consumption of fumes containing carbon monoxide. Usually the oxygen binds to hemoglobin but in smokers carbon monoxide bind to hemoglobin which supplies insufficient amount of oxygen to the cells. As the cells are lacking oxygen they cannot go for physical activities and become more and more lethargic.
• The effect of smoking cigarette smoking can also be seen on the fingers. The finger by which they hold cigarette gets yellow and pale. If you smoke roll ups this problem will be even worse. No amount of scrubbing will get rid of it; the only solution is to stop using the same finger.
If the person does not stop smoking in these initial stages then he has to fight against the most dangerous diseases.

Yes, smoking is having several immediate effects on body.
Brain: Nicotine which is present in the cigarettes it directly affects the brain. Nicotine activates the receptors of brain and causes addiction. Cigarette smokers showed higher rate of behavioral problems and suffer the following immediate effects:
Disturbs brain chemistry: In the brain, dopamine receptors are present. The number of dopamine receptor vary in smokers and non smokers. The number of dopamine receptors in non smokers are less as compared to smokers. Dopamine is released during the activities like drinking, eating and copulation. The initial increase in dopamine activity from nicotine results at first enjoyable feeling for the smoker, but the consequent decrease in dopamine leaves the smoker hankering more cigarettes.
Increase Stress: Smoking does not alleviate from the stress it is just returning to the undisturbed condition which the non smokers experience all the time.
Persistent cough: The respiratory tract is lined by the cilia which are thread like structure helps in filtering the air. By repeated smoking, the cilia come in contact with the fumes which in turn inactivate the cilia. Now the foreign particle irritates the mucosa lining and which secrets mucus. The mucus is sticky in nature so foreign particle sticks to it and in the form of sputum we spit it.
Decreases physical activities: Decrease in the physical activity is one of the major immediate effect of smoking. For physical activities like swimming, playing, exercise more amount of oxygen is required. But while smoking carbon monoxide is released which is absorbed faster than the oxygen, so sufficient oxygen is not reached to every cell because of which the person get exhausted very soon.
Increases heart rate: Due to nicotine consumption the heart rate increases as compared to the non smokers. If heart will beat for more times than normal, stress will come on the heart and may suffer from heart attack.
Increases blood pressure: Blood pressure is a measure of tension on the walls of arteries. Higher blood pressure requires that the heart pump harder in order to
beat the opposing pressure in the arteries. This increased work, much like that related to increased heart rate, can wear out a heart faster.
Periodontal disease: The inflammation extends deeper and damages the gums and the bone. As disease advances the pocket formation takes place and leads to loss of tooth. It happens because of smoking the plaque formation takes place which later on causes periodontitis.
Halitosis: Due to smoking the beneficial bacteria present in the saliva gets killed. The other bacteria undergo putrefaction process where it releases gases that cause bad breath (Halitosis).

Skin is the largest part of our body it consist of three layers
Epidermis: the outermost dead layer of the skin.
Dermis: The middle layer present just below the epidermis is called as the living region of the skin as it contains blood vessels, sweat glands, sebaceous glands, hair follicle and nerve endings.
Subcutaneous layer: It is the innermost layer which contains fats and helps in maintain body temperature..
The dermis is the important portion as it contains blood vessels which supplies blood to the cells of the skin. The skin remains healthy if proper amount of oxygen and nutrients reaches to the body. The person who is a non smoker looks young even at the age of 60 while the person who smokes in them the ageing appears at the age of 40.
Smoking effects the skin as cigarettes contains toxic substances. The major harmful substance released while smoking is Carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide gets absorbed 200 times more rapidly than oxygen. Usually hemoglobin carries oxygen and nutrients to skin but in smokers the amount of carbon monoxide and other toxic substances gradually increases. So in smokers later the carbon monoxide and the toxic substances are carried by the hemoglobin to the skin. Gradually the damage of the skin cells occur which affects the skin. Due to smoking the premature wrinkling starts as skin cells are lacking oxygen and nutrients. The cheeks become hollow due to continuous sucking. The dark circles surrounding the eyes increases and the whole face look very dull and unattractive. The lips become black due to blowing off the smoke out. Smoking stains the teeth and causes infection in the gums and they suffer from halitosis and xerostomia. Smoking effects face by captivating all the facial charm.
Smoking may cause the skin infection called as Psoriasis. The exact cause and treatment is not yet known. In a long term it may also cause psoriatic arthritis.
The skin provides Vitamin C to the cells. Vitamin C acts as antioxidants. It is water soluble, unstable vitamin and not manufactured by our body. It’s one of the function is to preserve collagen in the skin which gives shiny and youthful appearance to the skin. While smoking free radicals are released this damages the cells and also breakdown the preserved collagen. The function of Vitamin C is to donate the electrons to the free radicals and neutralize them. But smoking deprives of Vitamin C. This damages the cells and results in premature wrinkling near mouth and eyes.

I always rushed towards the cigarette, just because of the sheer thrill that it bestows. However, I could not realize that this momentary delight would lead me towards a lifelong tribulation. It is very difficult to quit smoking instantly. If you are an early smoker then it is my most humble request to you to leave smoking as it is truly very injurious not only to your own health but also to the health of those that are near and dear to you.
I want to quit smoking now, because this habit has made my life a living hell. I started with smoking just for the purpose of show off during my college days. I even found many like me who had to start smoking just because of their peer pressure. I wanted to look macho like other smokers and so I continued with my habit and did not ever think of quitting it. Gradually, I became extremely addicted towards it. It annoyed me a lot, if I ever missed having at least one puff of my favorite brand. Though my college days were over, the addiction of cigarette smoking always stayed with me throughout.
In the initial stages of initiating my habit, I did not feel any sort of adverse effects. But gradually, many of the tribulations started. My precious white teeth suddenly started getting yellowish. I had to compromise with my smile as it looked completely weird. Even the color of lips got darkened. However, the outer deteriorations are curable, but you have to pay a heavy price for it. Apart from the external, I also noticed various internal tribulations also. I found that my appetite has been reduced to a larger extent. Even a large part of my weight was lessened in a very short time. This is an alarming situation. I was not able to have clear bowels, due to which I had to undergo a lot of discomfort throughout the day. When I consulted my doc, he stated that the acidity content within my stomach has increased to an alarming level. She even stated that the oxygen level of my body is very low. When my heart beats were checked, she declared that they were more than that of a normal person. She even advised me to quit smoking as soon as possible. Even, she explained me the possible hazards that I would have to undergo if I do not quit smoking now.
The facts that my doc explained me just left me in a state of shock and amazement. I thenceforth decide to quit smoking and lead a smoking free life, which is without any sort of tribulation. My doc even recommended various institutions that help smokers to get rid of their addictions. I would approach one of them soon and get rid of my harmful addiction. If you want to quit smoking, you must also approach your nearby by institution that helps in getting rid of our addictions.
